Leadville Free Road



from the Cultural Contexts report, 2004: Leadville Free Road (circa 1865) The Leadville Free Road was built to compete with toll roads. Built to compete with the toll roads at Apex and up Mount Vernon Canyon, it ascended Chimney Creek, ran along the east face of Lookout Mountain, through the New York Ranch and on the south slope of Genesee Mountain to Cold Springs Ranch, to reach Bergen Park.
