|Address:||Crosses central Jefferson County from E. to W.|
A United States and Colorado State highway beginning at Interstate 25 in southeast Denver, following Hampden Avenue westward and going through Turkey Creek Canyon, Conifer, Bailey, South Park, New Mexico and Texas. Named Highway 285 in 1925 when Colorado highways were numbered. The roadway closely follows the original stage coach road of the 1860s that connected Morrison with Bailey and South Park, except for the several miles through South Turkey Creek, which underwent a major relocation to higher ground in 1950. The mountain portion of the road was first paved in 1937.
