|Address:||5150 Allison St., Arvada, 80002|
As a young man Ignatz Bacher, Sr. of Tyrol, Austria immigrated to America in 1882. He fell ill while living in Central City, resulting in his family’s relocation to Arvada in 1898. There the Bachers purchased ten acres on Allison Street and supported themselves by raising small berries and celery. The acreage was sold to the School District in 1946. Russell Elementary School was built at the site in 1953 and was named for Dr. Richard Russell, the first Mayor of Arvada.
