Alice Sweet Thomas Park
|Address:||W 80th Ave. & Simms St., Arvada, 80005|
Alice Sweet Thomas Park was completed November 15, 1974. It includes four acres, four tennis courts and a basketball court, built on Arvada's 10-million-gallon water storage tank, which is mostly recessed into the ground. Council members and Mayor Don Feland officially dedicated the complex. Cost of the project was $860,000 with $66,000 used for a recreational facility. The water tank will help maintain proper water pressure for the city. The park was named for Alice Sweet Thomas, wife of councilman Thomas G. Thomas, who died December 11, 1974.
