Morrison School House

Address: 226 Spring St., Morrison, 80465

Built in 1875 by George Morrison, this two-story building is of local buff sandstone (probably Dakota Formation) with red Morrison sandstone trim. The school was in continuous academic use till 1955. It is now a private residence. The school was added to the National Register of Historic Places on September 4, 1974 (5JF.194) as part of the Rural School Buildings in Colorado Multiple Property Submission. It is a rare example of a two-story rural schoolhouse. The building is also a contributing structure to the Morrison Historical District (5JF.176), designated in 1976.
